Rutgers Business School Offers an MBA Team Consulting Program that gives MBA students the opportunity to earn their degrees while providing hands-on consulting services to client companies. The program gives MBA students the opportunity to have industry experience while pursuing academic qualifications in the MBA program of study. To participate in the MBA Team Consulting Program, students must have at least seven to nine years of work experience. Senior MBA students with seven to nine years of full time work experience are placed in groups of six and assigned as a team to do consultant work for companies.
The program offers students consulting assignments that start in February, May or September and must be completed during over a period of fifteen weeks in keeping with the academic semester. Student teams are required to define and research the problem that is stated in their project assignment. Throughout the duration of the semester the team meets with the faculty and the client to measure its progress in finding a workable solution. The client is given a report summary of the completed analysis, as well as a synopsis of further research to be completed. At the end of the semester, the project is completed and the team compiles a final report with detailed findings and recommendations that serve as solutions to the problem. The final reports are given to the client's senior level management personnel in a professional boardroom business presentation.

Fordham Graduate School of Business offers an MBA Consulting Program that gives MBA students the opportunity to work on real business problems and come up with solutions and recommendations for client companies. The program provides students with the opportunity to gain real world experience in business consultancy through hands-on experience by working in teams of three to six. The Fordham MBA Consulting Program equips student teams with the same skills, training and experience used by professional business consultants.
Students begin their projects by preparing a project statement that defines the problem, outlining a research methodology, collecting and analyzing data, gathering facts and developing workable solutions. The client reviews the project statement and outlines the basis of performance assessment of each team. After the assignment is completed, the team offers workable recommendations to the client that are presented in both written and oral reports.
