Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania Colleges

Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley is located within driving distance of New York City. It's also near to Philadelphia. The Lehigh Valley is sometimes referred to as "College Valley," because of the many colleges and universities operating within the region. Three of the oldest colleges in the Lehigh Valley are Lehigh University, Moravian College and Penn State Lehigh Valley.
  1. Lehigh University

    • Lehigh University is located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, fifty miles north of Philadelphia. A private, nondenominational, four-year university, Lehigh was founded in 1865. Lehigh offers more than ninety undergraduate programs and majors. The university's 1,600 acres are spread out over three contiguous campuses: the Asa Packer campus, the Mountaintop Campus and the Murray H. Goodman Campus.

    Moravian College

    • Moravian College, like Lehigh University, is located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which is the heart of the Lehigh Valley. Moravian is a private liberal arts college. The college, founded in 1742, is America's sixth-oldest college; as the name suggests, it was founded by members of the Moravian church. In addition to the more than 50 undergraduate programs and majors, Moravian's campus also hosts the Moravian Theological Seminary, a graduate school of theology.

    Penn State Lehigh Valley

    • Penn State's Commonwealth Campus in the Lehigh Valley--which is known as Penn State Lehigh Valley--is the only public four-year college or university in the region. Penn State Lehigh Valley was Penn State's first branch campus; founded in 1912, the campus now offers three associate degree programs, five bachelor's degree programs and the first two years of more than 160 other majors, which can be completed by transferring to Penn State's flagship University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. In 2009, Penn State Lehigh Valley officially moved from Fogesville to a new campus in Center Valley, just outside Allentown, Pennsylvania. The college also operates a center for continuing education classes in Bethlehem.
