Meteorology is the science of atmosphere and its phenomena including but not limited to weather and climate. The state of Pennsylvania has several options for individuals seeking a meteorology degree.     • The meteorology program at Millersville University, located in Millersville, Pennsylvania, has over 100 matriculated students. The school is a member of the American Meterological Society as well as the University Corporation of Atmospheric Research. It dedicates more than 7,000 square feet solely to its meteorology program including a rooftop weather station and four teaching and research labs. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Campus Weather Service, issuing an average of 25 forecasts per week. Over half of Millersville graduates work in operational forecasting for employers including The Weather Channel, AccuWeather, Weather Services Corporation and the National Weather Service.     • Pennsylvania State University's Department of Meteorology has been in operation though the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences for over 70 years. It offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and typically enrolls about 350 students. This school also hosts the largest student-run Campus Weather Service in the United States. Penn State has a network of over 3,000 living alumni. Recent research topics at this school include weather and climate risk management, which relates the scientific discipline to business and economics. CUP offers a meteorology education in the form of a concentration track within its Bachelor of Science in Earth Science degree. This is a 120 credit-hour undergraduate degree includes a combination of technological training, traditional coursework and field training for practical experience.
