      Antelope Valley College, a two-year public institute, awards certificates and associate's degrees in a wide range of programs. Students can study agriculture, business management, communications technology, construction trades, education, engineering, health professions, liberal and performing arts, sciences, languages and mechanic and repair technology. Established in 1929, AVC has a satellite campus of California State University, known as Bakersfield-Antelope Valley, located on site. Upper division and graduate programs are offered through this satellite school at AVC. The college also has a campus site in Palmdale, California which is south of Lancaster.

      Lancaster Beauty School, founded in 1960, is a private institute that awards certificates in less than two years. Programs offered include trade and industrial teacher education, aesthetics, barbering, cosmetology and manicuring.
