Piedmont Virginia Community College, or PVCC, has seen more than 104,000 students since its establishment in 1972. It is one of 23 officially-accredited community colleges within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Nearly 7,000 students were enrolled at PVCC in 2009, and tuition costs averaged $2,584 for one academic year. PVCC provides a number of Associate degrees, as well as certificate program and non-credit personal enrichment courses.

The Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center, commonly known as CATEC, provides technical training and certificate programs for the Charlottesville and Albemarle, Virginia area. The school provides courses for both high school students and adults, specializing in trades such as auto body repair and dental assisting. The school also provides apprenticeship programs through various local businesses.

National College is a career-oriented curriculum college with locations throughout the eastern United States. The Charlottesville, Virginia campus graduated 71 students in 2010 with Associate's Degrees and Diplomas in medical assisting, office administration, business administration, desktop support and several other degrees. The Charlottesville National College campus has been open since 1979.
