The two-year Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program offered through Santiago Canyon College combines classroom learning with paid work experience. Students obtain 220 credit hours at the college while working full time under the guidance of a cosmetologist that is licensed by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Upon completion of the two years of education and apprentice experience, graduates write the state licensure examination and apply for a professional license to practice autonomously. Prospective students must independently locate a licensed cosmetologist willing to sponsor an apprentice and enter into an indenture agreement. The classroom component of the apprenticeship program are excepted from standard tuition costs.
