Hines VA School of Nuclear Medicine Technology, located in Hines, Illinois, offers a one-year internship program in nuclear medicine technology. Students complete clinical rotations in a variety of nuclear medicine departments of major medical centers in the greater Chicago area. The program, which starts annually in July, admits eight students each year to the internship. Students of College of St. Francis, Benedictine University, Northern Illinois University, St. Mary's University, University of Wisconsin at La Crosse and Roosevelt University are eligible to use their experience in the internship program towards their graduation requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear medicine technology. There are no fees associated with the internship program. Students are not paid to participate in the internship program.

Located in Miami, Florida, Jackson Memorial Hospital offers a 15-month certificate program in nuclear medicine technology. The full-time program includes 40 hours of instruction each week. Throughout the course of the program, students receive both classroom and clinical instruction. To be considered for admission to the program, applicants must submit to a background check and have completed at least 60 college credits.
