Nestled in the Department of Human Nutrition and Hospitality Management of its College of Environmental Studies, the University of Alabama offers three programs in nutrition. At the undergraduate level, students can choose between the Coordinated Program in Dietetics or the Didactic Program in Dietetics, both of which take up to 78 credits to complete. California State University, Los Angeles, offers a bachelor's and master's degree in nutritional science through its College of Health and Human Services' School of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science. Undergraduate students need at least 180 credits to graduate, with about a third of them in the core courses such as Foundations of Food and Fundamentals of Human Nutrition. Graduate students need 45 credits to complete the master's program, which contains required courses such as Medical Nutrition Therapy and Advanced Problems and Topics in Nutritional Science.
At the historically black institution of higher learning, students can enroll in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional Sciences program, which is offered in the university's College of Pharmacy, Nursing & Allied Health Sciences. The program consists of 139 credits, and it includes Nutrition in Life Cycle and Research Methods in Nutrition among its courses. Additionally, students can use Howard University's nutritionist program as premedicine or predentistry majors through its Human Nutrition and Food concentration.
Purdue University offers its bachelor's degree in nutrition science through its College of Consumer and Family Sciences. The program requires 130 credits for completion, and up to 95 of them are in major requirement courses. Such classes include Diet Selection and Planning, Macronutrient Metabolism In Human Health and Disease, Communication Techniques in Foods and Nutrition, and Health Screening and Fitness Evaluation and Prescription.
