Oregon Nutritionist Schools

Nutritionist schools in the state of Oregon range from community college Certificates to Ph.D programs. Depending on how much money and time you wish to spend pursuing an education in nutritional studies, there are different options for you both in Portland or other smaller cities in the state. Nutritionist programs can focus on the medical aspects of food, fitness and physical activity relations or even holistic approaches to nutrition.
  1. Oregon State University

    • Located in Corvallis, Oregon, a city of approximately 55,000 people, Oregon State University features a Department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master's degree, and a Ph.D in Nutrition which prepares professional practitioners as well as research scientists in the areas of Dietetics, Fitness and Nutrition. The department houses 1200 undergraduate students, 67 graduate students and faculty of 30 instructors.

    Oregon Health and Science University

    • Located in Portland, Oregon -- the most populous city in the state of Oregon -- the Oregon Health and Science University features programs in Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing. The campus is also home to the Oregon Health & Science University Hospital as well as a children's hospital. The school offers graduate programs in Human Nutrition, including a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and a Dietetic Internship Program that prepares students to take the national examination to become a Registered Dietitian.

    Central Oregon Community College

    • Located in Bend, Oregon -- a city in central Oregon -- Central Oregon Community College offers a Dietary Manager Certificate, which can be completed in less than two years in a part-time capacity. Field experience makes this program more practical, giving it a "hands-on" approach to learning. Upon completion of the program, graduates can take a national examination to become Certified Dietary Managers through the Dietary Managers Association of America.

    National College of Natural Medicine

    • Also located in Portland, Oregon, the National College of Natural Medicine is the oldest accredited naturopathic medical college located in North America. The school features a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree, a four-year program which focuses on the benefits of holistic nutrition, as well as botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, and homeopathic medicine.
