Esthetician Colleges

Estheticians are skin care professionals whose objectives are to address a patient's skin and/or hair issues and assist in preventing or minimizing damage. Training programs can involve basic skin care as well as more advanced techniques in sustaining skin health. Estheticians are found worldwide, and programs are offered globally. Location should not be a prohibiting factor for those interested in pursuing this course of study, as there are many choices available.

    • The College of International Esthetics, Inc., offers training courses in Professional Esthetics, Medical Esthetics, and Advanced Esthetics. Students interested in enrolling in the professional course will become certified in various techniques, including chemical peels and microdermabrasion. The program, if attended full time, lasts just over three months; it takes five months on a part-time basis. A total of 600 hours must be completed. The Medical Esthetics program includes chemical peels and microdermabrasion education, as well as cosmetic laser techniques, permanent makeup applications and injection methods. The course lengths range from two days to more than two weeks for those who are already professionals in the field. The Advanced Esthetics training includes Brazilian methods and lasts for three hours, or no more than half a day. Only licensed estheticians may attend this course.     Blue Cliff Career College

    • Blue Cliff Career College offers a program for aspiring estheticians. Students will study basic techniques as well as advanced skin care treatments. The curriculum incorporates lessons on resort/spa treatments, overall well-being, and diet. Completion of the program requires 1500 hours of coursework, after which students are eligible to sit for the state exam. State testing is both written and demonstrative, meaning that students must show hands-on evidence of their prior preparation. Financial assistance is available for eligible students.

    Genesis Career College of Cookeville

    • Genesis Career College of Cookeville offers various cosmetology-based programs, including esthetician education. The program consists of 900 hours and generally involves 28-32 weeks of course time, depending on the speed with which a student progresses. The coursework consists of 150 hours on general and chemical aspects of esthetics, as well as a total of 600 hours on physical issues. Classes in anatomy, professional ethics, nutrition and machine usage are included. Students receive massage training along with their instruction on issues of the skin. Participants engage in standard classroom learning, but also complete various practical applications. Day and evening courses, as well as financial aid, are available.
