Michigan State University has an athletic training program that is offered through the department of kinesiology. This program is designed for students who wish to become sports medicine professionals. Upon completion of the program, students earn a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology with a major in athletic training. Required courses include first aid and personal safety, psychological basis of physical activity, pathology of sports injury and physical growth and motor behavior.

The Stony Brook University undergraduate athletic training program is designed for students who are interested in becoming an athletic trainer. This program encompasses clinical skills in addition to the technical skills that are taught throughout the program. During the general education portion of the program, students are required to complete four courses that directly relate to athletic training as prerequisites to the program. Professional courses include rehabilitation of athletic injuries, prevention and care of athletic injuries and organization and administration in athletic training.

Indiana State University's undergraduate athletic training program is designed to help educate individuals and prepare these students for future roles as sports medicine professionals. As a part of the preprofessional curriculum, students are required to complete an introduction to health professions, medical terminology for allied health professions and clinical kinesiology. As part of the professional component of the program, students take ortho-evaluation and diagnosis, applied therapeutic modalities and special topics in applied medicine.
