Home to more than 16,000 students, GateWay Community College opened in 1968. The school offers more than 130 programs, including automotive technology, business, environmental professions, health care, industrial technology, information technology, science and nursing. The college offers study abroad in countries like Mexico, Ireland, England, Italy, China, Australia and France. A service learning program is also available, allowing students to earn course credit for participating in volunteer and community service projects. Eligible students can receive federal and state loans and grants, veteran's benefits, work-study placements and institutional scholarships while studying at GateWay Community College. An on-site daycare provides low-cost child care for students' children. The college's Career Services department arranges internships for students and provides assistance with job searches. The college sponsors baseball, softball, men's cross county and men's and women's soccer and golf athletic teams. More than 15 student groups are located on campus.

Established in 1985, Paradise Valley Community College has an enrollment of more than 9,900 students. The college offers more than 20 associate degrees and 40 certificates of completion. Among the degree programs are accounting, administration of justice, office administration, computer information systems, emergency medicine, dietetics, emergency management, fire science, business, music business, nursing, programming and retail management. The college offers different types of distance education programs: an independent study and classroom-based instruction blend; instructor-guided independent studies; an online and classroom-based blend; and online-only courses. The school participates in government aid and military benefit programs and also provides a limited number of scholarships and work-study placements. Paradise Valley has baseball, softball and men's and women's cross country, tennis, soccer, golf and track and field teams.
