Founded in 1968, Gateway Community College offers over 100 degree and certificate programs. The college was the first technical college founded in the state and has grown into a thriving community college. The college is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school offers various apprenticeship programs in many different vocations such as heavy equipment operation. It also offers a number of similar programs in the automotive field such as automotive technology. Associate degrees are offered in the fields of business, health care, math and science and nursing. Liberal arts degrees include anthropology, archaeology, humanities, communications, English as a second language, philosophy and religion, psychology and women's studies.
