Plumbing Training Grants

A variety of educational grants and scholarships are available for a student training to become a plumber. Specifically, scholarships for becoming a certified plumber are provided by a number of sources, including professional organizations of plumbers, companies that manufacture appliances related to plumbing, and organizations dedicated to supporting the education of a new generation of plumbers.
  1. A.O. Smith Scholarships

    • A.O. Smith Water Heaters provides annual scholarship money to students who are training to be plumbers. A.O. Smith scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,500. To be eligible, a student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, and must be training full time. Students at both two-year and four-year institutions are eligible for the scholarship, as are students who are participating in an apprentice program that is accredited by the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association. This scholarship is administered by the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association. The annual deadline for application is May 1.     PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarship

    • The Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association administers scholarship money directly to students training to be plumbers through the PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarship Program. PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,500. Up to two scholarships are awarded each year. Students must be U.S. citizens in order to be eligible. In addition to a completed application, an applicant must also submit a letter of recommendation from their high school principal or counselor or program instructor, as well as a letter of recommendation from an active PHCC member.     NextStar Legacy Foundation Scholarship

    • The NextStar Legacy Foundation provides educational grants for students and apprentices pursuing a career as a plumber through the NextStar Legacy Foundation Scholarship Program. Legacy Foundation scholarships are awarded in varying amounts and typically range from $500 to $6,000. Students in apprentice programs and enrolled at technical colleges are eligible. An applicant must be a citizen of the United States, Canada, Australia or the Cayman Islands to be eligible. In addition to a completed application, an applicant must submit an essay on one of four themes related either to the plumbing industry or to their record of extracurricular activity.
