Lake Michigan College is a regional, two-year college located in Benton Harbor, Michigan. (The college also has a campus in Napier, Michigan.) The college teaches more than 7,000 credit and non-credit students annually. This number includes students from more than 30 regional high schools, who earn college credit through LMC's Early College Program. The college has no dorms, but more than 50 percent of students are enrolled full time.

Hope College is a private college in Holland, Michigan, affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. The school, which was opened by Dutch immigrants in 1851 as the Pioneer School, shares its 90-acre campus with Western Theological Seminary. The liberal arts college enrolls about 3,000 students annually, and offers 90 majors. Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts, Music, Science or Science in Nursing.

The Christian Reformed Church in North America founded Calvin College in 1876 and named it after famous reformer John Calvin. The private college, which now enrolls 4,000 students, has an emphasis on a liberal arts curriculum. Most of its students (94 percent) receive financial aid. The school, which is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has just under 100 academic majors.

While most students are from Michigan, about 7 percent of the student population comes from Indiana.
