TWU has four colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Nursing and the College of Professional Education. Within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, students can major in 16 academic areas ranging from government to visual arts to biology. The other colleges focus more on technical training for professional occupations, such as dental hygiene, nursing and teaching.
Admissions requirements differ for freshmen, transfer, graduate and international students. TWU offers scholarships, loans and grants for students and supports students who apply for external sources of funding, such as those for research projects. Tuition and fees at TWU are extremely competitive when compared with other Texas universities. Applications for students wishing to begin classes in the fall are due in late August.
Outside of academics, student life is the most important aspect of a college or university to consider when applying to schools. TWU offers students a well-rounded college experience. Students at all levels of their education in any college are encouraged to seek out their professors for extra assistance or to work on research projects one-on-one. In addition to athletics, career services, food service, student union and dozens of student organizations, students are also encouraged to explore the areas outside campus to take advantage of all Texas has to offer.
