University of Miami

• The University of Miami's School of Architecture is committed to promoting environmental responsibility in both their architectural and urban design courses. The school teaches vernacular architecture, which is by nature a sustainable design type that works with the land on which it is built. The well-respected urban planning curriculum at the University of Miami is primarily based on a movement called New Urbanism. This movement takes the students away from the wasteful planning that is responsible for the urban sprawl of today and instead teaches about more compact and walkable communities.
