Schools of Architecture in the Philippines

Based on the June 2009 Architect Board Exam Results, the top architecture schools in the Philippines are the University of the Philippines and the University of Santo Tomas. For the 20 to 50 examinees category, the University of the Philippines ranked first with 26 total number of examinees passing out of 28 which equates to a 93 percent passing mark. For the 51 and more examinees category, University of Santo Tomas ranked first with 112 total number of examinees passing out of 204 which equates to a 55 percent passing mark.
  1. Board Topnotchers

    • The University of Santo Tomas garnered the top spot in the June 2009 board exam as provided in the list of the Top 10 Board Passers for the Architecture Licensure Examination. This university has two topnotchers on the list. The University of the Philippines has the most number of board topnotchers. Four graduates of the university each ranked third and seventh, and two graduates got the ninth spot.

      According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the Top 10 Board Topnotchers in the Architecture Licensure Examination June 2009 (ALE) are:

    University of the Philippines

    • Consistently named as a Center of Excellence by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Architecture offers two undergraduate degree programs: the bachelor of science (BS) in architecture, a quota course, and the bachelor of landscape architecture, a non-quota course. The BS in architecture course adopts a ladder-type curriculum wherein the student initially earns a certificate in building technology after three years. After completing the five-year program, the student graduates with a bachelor of science degree. The university also offers the graduate programs master of architecture and master of tropical landscape architecture.

    University of Santo Tomas

    • Also consistently named as a Center of Excellence by CHED, the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture offers a five-year program that leads to a degree of bachelor of science in architecture. It also establishes extension and outreach programs in fulfillment of the university’s role as a Center of Contextualized Theology in Asia.
