Government Marine Engineering Colleges in India

The government of India has made several marine engineering programs accessible to those interested in becoming marine engineers. These institutions combine practical knowledge and hands-on experience, and are affiliated with government ministries. The advantage of this setup is that students gain the chance to be trained by, intern with, and ultimately become employed by these governmental departments dealing with marine science.
  1. Andhra University

    • Andhra University started educating students in India in 1926, when the government passed the Madras Act of 1926. The Department of Marine Engineering, which was created much later in 1971, has worked along with the ministry of education, shipping and transport to train students interested in contributing to India's rich marine industry. Andhra offers bachelor's degrees in naval architecture and mechanical marine engineering, and master's degrees in marine engineering and mechanical handling.
