Established in 1924 as Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Cincinnati Christian University focuses on teaching students based on Christian principles. According to Cincinnati Christian University, community service is a staple of the university. This means that students have many opportunities to volunteer in Cincinnati and throughout the world. Students at the university begin classes with prayer. Students can study a wide range of 39 majors and minors including music studies, ministry concentrations and education. Cincinnati Christian University also offers some courses of study that lead to associate degrees, but they are provided in a cooperative with the two-year Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. The university focuses on a Christian education without a concentration on any particular denomination. As of 2010, the school had approximately 790 undergraduate students and about 240 graduate students.
Xavier University, a Jesuit, Catholic, postsecondary institution, was founded in 1831. According to the school, as of 2011, it has 83 undergraduate majors, 52 minors and 11 graduate programs. There are three colleges within the university: the Williams College of Business, the College of Arts & Science, and the College of Social Sciences, Health and Education. Majors include electronic media, education and accounting. The university also has weekend and part-time degree programs through which students older than 22 can obtain either an associate or a bachelor 's degree. As of 2010, Xavier University had 7,019 students, including 4,368 undergraduate students.
Temple Baptist College was established in 1972. According to the school, it seeks to provide students with an arts and science education based on the tenets and values of the Christian faith. Students can pursue majors in business, ministry and education. The ministry major provides students with the option of entering the ministry field or graduate work. There are approximately 100 students at the school.
The College of Mount St. Joseph integrates liberal arts and professional education with a Catholic focus. The school was founded in 1920. The College of Mount St. Joseph also offers 39 bachelor's degrees in majors such as media, history and social work. There are four graduate programs offered in areas such as organizational leadership and religious studies.
