Fairleigh Dickinson University has a Post-doctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology program, which is mainly for psychologists looking to expand their skill set. This is a 10-course program, and includes the study of neuroscience, pathophysiology and clinical pharmacology. You also learn about ethical and legal issues, and how to care for patients, including drug abuse and mental disorder patients. This is mainly an at-home study class, where you do the required readings and watch recorded lectures. You must also take part in online chats and discussions. Coursework includes Biological Foundations I and II, Professional Issues and Practice Management and Treatment Issues in Psychopharmacology. You must complete two courses per semester, and pass the Psychopharmacology Examination for Psychologists (PEP) exam or write a thesis.
The University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio offers a one credit Fundamentals of Behavioral Pharmacology class, which is part of the Pharmacology Track Graduate Program. You can take this class any semester, and you learn the basics of behavioral pharmacology. Topics discussed in class include reinforcement schedules, drug dependence, conditioned/unconditioned behavior and drugs as reinforcing stimuli. This class meets for one hour per week during the fall and spring semesters, and for two hours per week during the summer. You must submit a final written paper to pass the class.
Rutgers University has a Behavioral Pharmacology Certificate Program, and this class is mainly for undergraduate behavioral sciences and psychopharmacology students. To enter this program, you must complete at least 60 credits and have a declared major in psychology. Coursework includes physiological psychology, neuropsychopharmacology, conditioning and learning, and behavioral pharmacology. This is a six credit course, and you must also finish two semesters of research and an internship.
