Its film program is consistently among the best in the world. Some of its famous alumni are Alexander Payne, Justin Lin and Francis Ford Coppola.
The Department of Film and Television at the New York University (nyu.edu) Tisch School of the Arts is very selective and committed to getting students off to a good start in the entertainment industry. The school has one of the East Coast's largest filmmaking facilities. The demanding coursework includes concentration on producing, directing, scriptwriting, shooting and editing. Its acclaimed alumni include Roman Coppola, Spike Lee and M. Night Shyamalan.
The University of Texas (utexas.edu) Film Institute is relatively new, but it already counts as one of the best film schools in the country for its dedication to a new model of film education. It offers bachelor's and master's degrees in Screenwriting as well as in Film and Video Production. Austin may not be a famous film center like LA and New York, but it does host two renowned film festivals (the Austin Film Festival and South by Southwest). Robert Rodriguez and Wes Anderson graduated from UT-Austin.
