Students at the University of Mobile have the option of choosing between a bachelor of arts, bachelor of science or a minor in psychology. Graduate degrees are not available at the University of Mobile in psychology, though counselors in the social sciences department will help students find internships that will help to further their learning. Coursework focuses on the perceptual process, cognitive ability, and personalities of those with both normal and abnormal behaviors.

The Department of Psychology at the University of South Alabama offers bachelor's and master's degrees in general psychology. In the fall of 2010 the university launched a new Ph.D program in psychology -- a combined clinical and counseling degree. The program is geared toward students who wish to master the discipline in a clinical, counseling, and research setting. The in-residence program requires full-time study, a dissertation and a year-long internship. Students must have a combined score of 1,100 or better on the Graduate Record Examination to be admitted to the doctoral program.

Spring Hill College, the "Jesuit College of the South" offers a bachelor's in general psychology as part of its social sciences division. Spring Hill focuses on practical application of learned skills with role play and internships. Students who wish to continue to study psychology at Spring Hill College can obtain a master's of liberal arts concentrating in history and social science. Students who follow this path will study the psychology of leadership as well as world and women's history, Middle Eastern culture, American foreign policy and Latin-American politics.

Just over the Alabama-Florida border, in Pensacola, is the University of West Florida. UWF offers a bachelor of arts and a master's degree in general psychology and a specialized sport and exercise psychology program. Those who pursue this path will study subjects such as the sociology of sports and how to handle success in sports.
