The Yale University School of Art is part of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Those applying to the Yale University School of Art must have a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or a diploma from a four-year art school. All students of the Paier College of Art must take a group of fundamental courses during their first year, which is referred to as the Foundation Year. The Lyme Academy of Art is in Old Lyme and is a four-year school. This school currently has 85 students enrolled and offers bachelor's degrees in drawing, illustration, painting and sculpting. The campus is equipped with state of the art studios, classrooms and exhibition spaces. The Krieble Library on campus provides students with an academic and creative center where they can get their work down and receive advice from outside of the classroom. As part of the curriculum, Lyme Academy of Art brings in internationally known artists each semester to lecture and advise students.
The Creative Arts Workshop is in New Haven and is a nonprofit center for art education. The Creative Arts Workshop offers over 300 classes available to all who wish to participate. Over 3,000 people enroll in the classes offered by the Creative Arts Workshop each year. The school has more than 55 faculty members and has classes in book arts, decorative arts, drawing and painting, fiber, jewelry, photography, printmaking and sculpting. Workshops for advanced students and professionals are also available.
