Andrews University, founded in 1874, offers undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees and doctoral studies to about 3,500 students (the 2010 enrollment totaled 3,487). Andrews, located in Berrien Springs, Michigan, is an institution of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
There are many spiritual activities available at Andrews, such as children's ministries, community outreach programs, Bible studies, prayer groups and worship experiences. There is also a vibrant social scene at Andrews, with a myriad of social activities to choose from like pool tournaments and cookouts. Intramural sports, including softball, flag football, soccer, basketball, floor hockey, and volleyball, keep the athletic students busy year round. Andrews also sponsors basketball, soccer and hockey teams that compete in local and intercollegiate leagues.
Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, an educational institution of the Christian Reformed Church, was founded in 1876. With around 4,000 students, it is one of the largest Christian colleges in North America. Calvin is a liberal arts college and offers undergraduate degrees.
Calvin College offers many extracurricular opportunities for students, including music ensembles, religious and spiritual activities and over 60 student-led organizations such as the Calvin Video Network and Martial Arts of China.
Calvin sports compete at the national level in NCAA Division III. Sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and track and field. Calvin students can also participate in intramural sports throughout the year.
Olivet College, Olivet, Michigan, is a four-year liberal arts institution. It was founded in 1844 and is affiliated with the United Church of Christ and the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. Olivet enrolls just over 1,000 students a year.
Olivet students can enjoy a movie in the Kula Samba campus movie theatre, participate in a wide variety of Greek societies and get involved in the numerous student organizations such as the Art Alliance, Bowling Club or Yoga Club.
The Olivet Comets compete at the NCAA Division III level and are a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Mens programs include baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, track and field, cross country, wrestling and football. Womens sports exclude wrestling, baseball and football but include softball, lacrosse and tennis. Olivet also offers seasonal intramural sports.
Founded in 1833, Kalamazoo College is ranked in the top 100 oldest colleges in America. Kalamazoo is selective in choosing students, enrolling just over 1,000 students every year, and is highly ranked nationally for graduates earning Ph.D.s.
Movies, crafts, late night events and concerts fill Kalamazoo's extracurricular calendar. The Student Activities Committee is a committee dedicated to keeping the student body busy with a host of activities.
The Kalamazoo Hornets compete at the NCAA Division III level. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, swimming and diving, soccer and tennis. Women's sports replace baseball and football with softball and volleyball. Kalamazoo also offers seasonal intramural sports.
