The largest community college in the state, Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) has its main campus in downtown Albuquerque. It is home to 25,000 students, as of January 2011, and has a higher intake than the University of New Mexico. The college offers associate degrees in 47 subjects including accounting, aviation maintenance and English.
Known as the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute until 2006, CNM employs 330 educators. It offers apprenticeship programs for trade occupations and education for those in full-time employment at its CNM Workforce Training Center. Online learning courses are also available.
In addition to campuses in Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Tempe and Tucson, Brookline College also has premises near the West Mesa region of Albuquerque. Opened in 2002, the Albuquerque campus offers eight programs, as of January 2011 -- diplomas in being a business technology specialist, medical assistant, medical insurance coder and legal secretary, and Associate of Arts degrees in accounting, business, justice administration and paralegal studies.
All applicants to Brookline must have a high school diploma.
Brookline College also offers online degrees in a variety of business, legal and health care degrees.
As of January 2011, 3,000 students were enrolled at Brookline.
There are 24 Brown Mackie colleges located across America, with its Albuquerque campus positioned just off the Coronado Freeway. Brown Mackie Albuquerque offers bachelor's degrees, associate degrees and diplomas in subjects such as accounting, occupational therapy and criminal justice.
Courses at Brown Mackie can be taken either part-time or full-time, with evening class options also available for those in full-time employment.
As of January 2011, 500 students attend Brown Mackie Albuquerque. The college is non-residential.
Previously known as Apollo College, Carrington College is a chain of for-profit higher educational institutions across the west of America offering courses in a variety of allied health fields. The Albuquerque branch of Carrington College is situated in the Stronghurst suburb of the city and offers 10 programs of study, including dental assisting, pharmacy technology and fitness training.
The college offers scholarships to those displaying potential, scholastic achievement and a financial need. Carrington is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
