The University of Wyoming has a nursing program that offers a bachelor's degree up through a doctoral degree in nursing. The university is nestled between two mountains in Laramie, with plenty of outdoor recreation available as well as city life in Denver, Colorado only 2.5 hours away. Students in the nursing program must maintain a minimum nursing grade point average of 2.75 and grades must fall no lower than a C in any class. At the graduate level, students can learn about teaching nursing or can follow a more direct route in nursing to learn about family health. Nurses who obtain a doctorate are able to become a nurse practitioner while nurses at undergraduate levels can work as registered nurses after passing the NCLEX-RN.
Casper College offers an associate's degree in nursing. It is located in Casper, Wyoming. The goal of the school is for students to pass the licensure exam upon graduation and begin practice as a registered nurse. The school offers a degree and education within a two year time period and has medical facilities associated with the school within a five mile area of the school, allowing for practice as needed by the students.
Gillette college in Gillette, Wyoming offers an associate's degree in nursing. Students undergo education in the classroom and through hands-on practice under the supervision of professional nurses. The school requires students to receive a C grade or better to continue with the program each semester. Upon graduation and completing licensure exams, the students become registered nurses.
Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyoming offers an associate's degree in nursing and has options to transfer to a four year college or university. The students who graduate become registered nurses. The program is a three year program option which prepares students for licensure by graduation. Students learn about safe practices with patients and are given supervised nursing practice as well as classroom study.
