TV Broadcasting Colleges

TV broadcasting programs teach students to work both in front of the camera and in production. Students learn about performance and all aspects of pre- and post-production. Opportunities are available to learn through classroom work and training in the field. Programs may also required students to work at a local broadcasting facility under the supervision of professionals in the field.
  1. Herkimer County Community College

    • Herkimer County Community College, in Herkimer, New York, offers a radio-television broadcasting program that teaches students to operate television equipment, write broadcast copy, perform on-camera and produce segments. The curriculum includes courses in video and audio production, voice and diction, sales and promotion in electronic media and broadcast copywriting. In addition to work in the classroom, students have an opportunity to work and learn in the state-of-the-art digital laboratory on campus. Students are also required to work in an apprenticeship with a local broadcasting station.

    Ohlone College

    • Ohlone College, with campuses in Fremont and Newark, California, offers an associate degree in broadcasting with a concentration in film and television. The program covers topics in directing, editing, camera work, news and video production and writing. Students become familiar with a variety of software programs, including Avid and Final Cut Pro. Course are taught by industry professionals, and students learn both in the classroom and through laboratory work. Opportunities are also available to learn about producing documentaries and sports broadcasts.

    Otterbein University

    • Students at Otterbein University, in Westerville, Ohio, can enroll in the bachelor's degree program in broadcasting and learn about television and media production. The curriculum includes courses in television performance, broadcast news, news writing and reporting, media criticism and media ethics. Students are also required to complete a practicum at a local broadcasting or television studio. In addition to a degree program, students also have the option of minoring in this field.

    Tarrant County College

    • Tarrant County College, in Fort Worth, Texas, offers a 64-credit associate degree program in radio and television broadcasting. In addition to general education requirements, students must complete core courses in broadcasting. While general education courses cover topics in mathematics, English, science and humanities, core curriculum courses include television production, mass communications, radio, writing for television and film and television news. Graduates of the program can look for career opportunities or enroll in a Bachelor of Arts degree program in television broadcasting.
