Collin County Community College, located on Wade Boulevard in Frisco, offers a two-year associate's degree in nursing. After completing classes at the college, students can apply for licensure through the Texas Board of Nursing. After students are accepted by Collins Community College, they must complete prerequisite courses before applying to the school of nursing. Registration for classes at the school of nursing can begin after being accepted into the nursing program. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA in prerequisite courses, pass the nursing school aptitude exam and pass a background, drug and mental health screening. Program-specific immunizations are required before classes can begin.
Platt College Dallas Campus requires students obtain a high school diploma or GED certificate before applying to the college. Admission to the vocation nursing school is accepted after the student passes the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test with a 300 verbal and 270 quantitative score. Prospective nursing students must then interview with the nursing director and pass a background and drug test before registering for nursing classes. Nursing degrees offered by Platt College Dallas Campus include Associates of Occupational Studies in Practical Nursing, Associate of Science in Nursing and Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. The Dallas campus is located just 29 minutes from Frisco.
At North Central Texas College, students can study for an associate's degree in nursing. After completing the two-year program, students can apply to take the registered nurse exam through the Board of Nurse Examiners in Texas. After passing the exam, graduates can work as a registered nurse. An LVN (licensed vocational nursing) program is available at the Corinth campus. The program lasts one year, and student graduate with a certificate in nursing. Students can apply to North Central Texas College using the general ApplyTexas application. Applications can also be printed from the college website or picked up at the admissions office at the Corinth campus, 30 minutes from Frisco.
Located in Denton, Texas, a little more than 30 minutes west of Frisco is the Texas Women's College Denton campus. The college offers bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing. Students can choose from traditional college courses taken Monday to Friday or weekend courses established for working adults. Online courses are also available for registered nurses who want to complete a bachelor's of science in nursing degree. Prospective students can apply to the college using the ApplyTexas application online. All new students must meet prerequisite requirements before being accepted to Texas Women's College. Registered nurses can apply directly to the RN to BSN program. Students without a registered nursing license must apply to the BS in nursing program.
