Nursing Schools in the Orlando, Florida Area

The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission is the accrediting authority for nursing education programs in the United States. There are four accredited nursing schools at universities and colleges in and near Orlando, Florida. Nursing colleges in the area offer a range of programs, including associate, baccalaureate, master's and doctoral degrees.
  1. Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences

    • Established in 1992, the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences is a private Seventh-day Adventist institution in Orlando. The college specializes in allied health and nursing education, granting baccalaureate and associate of science degrees in nursing, as well as other health science disciplines. The bachelor of science in nursing program is offered entirely on-line, and is geared towards working professionals. The college partners with the Florida Hospital to ensure students receive clinical experience.

    University of Central Florida

    • The University of Florida College of Nursing is located adjacent to the university's main campus in the Central Florida Research Park, east of downtown Orlando. The college was established in 1979. The university confers the bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nursing, as well as the doctor of nursing practice and doctor of philosophy in nursing. Clinical nurse leader and nursing education graduate certificates are also available for qualified nurses.

    Valencia Community College

    • Valencia Community College admitted its first class of nursing students in September 1971. Valencia's nursing program is located at the college's 180-acre campus west of downtown Orlando. The college confers the associate of science in nursing degree. Its nursing program allows students to continue towards a bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Central Florida. Applicants to the nursing program must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and hold a 2.5 GPA prior to enrolling.

    Seminole State College of Florida

    • The Seminole State College of Florida offers an associate in arts degree in nursing and has an associate in science degree nursing program for individuals interested in a career as a registered nurse. Known as the Seminole Community College until 2009, the college also has a certificate program in practical nursing. Charted in 1965, the college now operates four campuses and centers north of Orlando. Its heathcare programs, including nursing, are located at the Altamonte Springs campus.
