The Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri at Kansas City offers several public performances throughout the fall and spring semesters. The conservatory sponsors a variety of musical ensembles including string and woodwind quartets, orchestras and percussion and brass groups. Band and choral music programs also train student performers. Ensembles, bands, orchestras and choirs showcase their talent in semiannual concerts, and solo performers give annual recitals. Most of these performances are open to the general public, though some recitals are restricted to the university community. The conservatory also sponsors musical theater and opera performances throughout the school year.
The Music Program at Saint Louis University features a number of student ensemble and solo performances that are open to the public. Ensembles at Saint Louis University vary in selectivity, with the Mastersingers Ensemble showcasing voice students who have undergone an intensive acceptance process. The music program also offers a jazz ensemble, concert choir, band and chamber music groups. All ensembles give public performances at least once a year. In addition to the Music Program, Saint Louis University sponsors two a cappella groups open to students of any major. The Barenaked Statues, an all-male group, and Beyond All Reason, an all-female group, offer annual concerts for the university community and the general public.
The Department of Music at Washington University in St. Louis features small group ensembles, jazz band and orchestras. All of these student groups perform in concerts and recitals that are open to the public. The university's string orchestra gives two or three performances a semester and also plays for special events within the university community. The Department of Music offers an annual chamber opera production staged by members of the university's opera course. This opera, as well as most other musical performances, is available to the public.
Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri, is an arts-focused university, providing a number of musical performances each year. The Department of Music sponsors a symphony orchestra, concert choir, chorale and several jazz and instrumental ensembles. Combined, Webster University's ensembles offer more than 100 performances each school year, including a variety of charity productions for community organizations. Webster University also sponsors solo recitals for students in all vocal and instrumental fields. These performances are generally open to the public. Some performances might be free of charge to students.
