For a magazine article, cite the author's name(s), last name first, comma, first name. End each completed section with a period and a single space. Follow with the year of publication in parentheses. Include the month, spelled out fully, followed by the day of the month, if either is available. Insert the full title of the article, capitalizing only the first word. Do not underline or put quotation marks around it. In italics, put in the publication information, followed by a comma, followed by the volume number of the publication. Insert a comma then add the page numbers where the information can be found.
For a newspaper article, begin a citation with the title of the article if there is no author. Include a year and date in parentheses after the title. If an author's name is available, the date should follow the name, with the two separated by a period with the author's name leading the citation. List the article's title using the first significant word. In italics, type the source of the article, a comma, then the page number(s) in normal type.
When citing information from an online article, begin with the same format as when citing a magazine article. Add the publisher or website sponsor, if available. Include the date the piece was originally published online, if available. Always add the date the article was accessed from the Internet for use, following the original publishing date. Include the full URL of the specific page from which the information was obtained.
