Low-Cost Colleges in Georgia

With Georgia's major colleges charging state residents between $3,000 and $4,000 per semester in tuition and fees alone as of 2010, many prospective students are looking for lower-cost educational opportunities. A number of colleges in the state have far lower tuition rates for students with tighter budgets. These schools still offer accredited degree opportunities in a variety of programs.
  1. Albany State University

    • Founded in 1903 as Albany Bible and Manual Training Institution, Albany State has since become a four-year university under the Georgia State Board of Regents. This college was once attended solely by African-American students but now has a more diverse student body. The university stresses the liberal arts and is a leader in the region for educating future teachers.

Tuition and fees at Albany State are among the lowest in the state for a university offering bachelor's and master's degrees. In the fall of 2009, students with Georgia residency could enroll for 12 semester hours for as little as $1,549.
