Sertoma is an organization that works with people who have speech and hearing difficulties. This organization awards $1,000 to a deaf student who is a high school senior or a current undergraduate student with at least a 3.2 GPA.
The Minnie Pearl Scholarship is awarded by The Ear Foundation. It is given to high school seniors with "severe to profound hearing loss." Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, although those with a 3.5 GPA can be awarded an extra $500. The scholarship is worth as much as $2,500 and can be renewed every year of undergraduate study as long as the awardee has a 3.0 GPA.
The National Fraternal Society of the Deaf provides a scholarship to those who are hoping to attend college or who already are attending college. To be considered for the $1,000 award, applicants must be a member of The National Fraternal Society of the Deaf for at least one year prior to applying. The scholarship is renewable for one additional year.
The Travelers Protective Association of America's Scholarship Trust for the Hearing Impaired is a unique scholarship that is open to people with hearing disabilities, both children and adults, not specifically to college students. The scholarships through this association provide money for hearing devices, educational resources and even medical help for those with hearing disabilities.
