Private Pilot Scholarships

When planning a career as a pilot, remember you do not have to fly a massive commercial airplane to be successful in the aviation field. You can make a career of flying a smaller aircraft. There are several scholarship opportunities offered for pilots.
  1. The LeRoy Homer Foundation Scholarships

    • The LeRoy Homer Foundation offers scholarships to applicants between the ages of 16 and 23 who are interested in obtaining a private pilot license. Three students are selected for this honorable scholarship each year.

    Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Scholarships

    • The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Scholarships provides $2,000 scholarships for those wishing to attend an accredited school dealing with avionics or aircraft repair. To apply for this scholarship, contact the Aircraft Electronics Association.

    Alan H. Conklin Business Aviation Management Scholarships

    • The Alan H. Conklin Business Aviation Management Scholarships are offered in the amount of $5,000 to high school students interested in pursuing a degree in aviation. A 500-word scholarship essay is required.

    Amelia Earhart Memorial Academic Scholarships

    • The Amelia Earhart Memorial Academic Scholarships awards $5,000 scholarships to a woman pursuing a career in aviation or aerospace. You must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and be a member of the Ninety-Nines (an organization of licensed female pilots).

    • The Captain Kevin Kyle Mosley Private Pilot Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,500 to an Oregon high school junior or senior who wishes to pursue a career in aviation.
