Accelerated Genetics offers four $500 scholarships to high school students and two $1,000 scholarships to students who have parents that are active customers of the company and who plan on majoring in agriculture. The DeKalb Ag Youth Scholarship, offered through DeKalb Wing Wear apparel, awards ten $2,500 scholarships to individuals pursuing agriculture-related degrees. The application is available online is due on February 15. FFA membership is not required; candidates should possess strong leadership skills and a large amount of community involvement. Students must be pursuing an agriculture-related degree.
The FPSA offers scholarships for students pursuing degrees in the fields of food science, dairy science or agribusiness. Ten $3,000 scholarships are awarded to applicants and applications are due in November. Over 2,000 students have benefited from the FPSA scholarship program. Students pursuing an agriculture degree can apply for one of 100 $1,500 scholarships. There is a minimum SAT score and GPA requirement, and the student must have an agriculture-based background.
The National Dairy Promotion and Research Board awards 19 $1,500 scholarships and one $2,500 scholarship to students who are majoring in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business, economics, nutrition, food science or agricultural education. Applications can be found on its website and are due May 31.
The National FFA Organization is the premier agriculture youth program in the nation. It offers over 400 scholarships to its members, for a grand total of over $1 million dollars. Applications can be found at its website or through your local chapter adviser.
