Flight Schools in Indiana

Several different institutions offer flight training in Indiana. Before you start your search, you may want to decide what your goals are--to fly for fun or as a career.   1. Vincennes University

    • The Aviation Technology Center of Vincennes University is located at the Indianapolis International Airport. Although the university offers degree programs in maintenance technology, you can also obtain your private pilot rating. When you've completed your course, you'll be eligible for eight hours of college credit.

    Griffith Aviation

    • Griffith Aviation operates out of the Griffith-Merrillville Airport. You can obtain private pilot licensing through Griffith. The school also has an FAA-designated Flight Examiner on staff to administer the Private Pilot Flight Test.

    Indy Aero

    • Indy Aero operates out of the Mount Comfort Airport in Greenfield and is a Cessna Pilot Center. You can obtain training for private pilot, commercial pilot, instrument rating, multi-engine rating, and flight instructor designations through Indy Aero. Indy Aero's website indicates that the school is the only FAA Part 141 flight school in central Indiana, which means that you can obtain private pilot ratings in 35 hours.

    Eagle Aircraft

    • Eagle Aircraft is located at the Porter County Municipal Airport in Valparaiso. Eagle offers training for private, commercial, sport, and airline pilot designations, as well as instrument and certified flight instructor certifications. The school has its own fleet of aircraft, including Cessna and Piper models.
