Mountain State University offers associate degree and bachelor's degree programs in flight training, and the training program is operated by the Airline Transport Pilot Association. The programs are offered at the many Mountain State campuses that are distributed throughout the nation, including campuses in Atlanta, Bowling Green, Charlotte, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Long Beach, New York, Phoenix, Richmond, Sacramento, San Diego and Tampa. The program provides students with FAA pilot certification credentials for private pilot, commercial pilot, certified flight instructor and single-engine, multi-engine and instrument ratings. The curricula of the programs include college course work, instructive lessons and more than 100 hours of multi-engine flight experience.
Located in Auburn, Washington, the Northwest Aviation College offers an associate degree flight school program for prospective pilots. The school equips students with the required knowledge and necessary skills to achieve successful careers as major airline commercial pilots or as private pilots. The program generally takes 24 months to complete, and students in the program take three classes for each 11-week semester: an educational course, an aviation ground course and a flight course. Students who complete the program become certified in almost all areas of piloting, ranging from private pilot to multi-engine pilot.
Rocky Mountain College, located in Billings, Montana, provides a four-year degree program in flight training. Located in Eugene Oregon, Lane Aviation Academy offers an associate degree in flight technology that prepares students to work in various fields of the aviation industry including private, commercial or corporate aviation departments. The program teaches students how to use database information, technological resources and graphing systems to effectively complete projects. With a combination of lectures, labs and flight training, courses in the program include aircraft development, private pilot ground school, professional pilot lab, meteorology, aviation science and commercial pilot ground school.
