Canadian Flight Attendant Schools

For those who are personable and enjoy traveling, a career as a flight attendant may be just the right fit. With so much industry competition, though, many choose to attend flight attendant schools to sharpen their knowledge and skills, as well as prepare for the rigorous interview process for hiring. A few schools in Canada offer education in this field.
  1. Canadian Tourism College

    • Founded in the late 1970s, Canadian Tourism College in Vancouver trains students for jobs in the travel and tourism industry. For prospective flight attendants, the school offers a "flight attendant pre-employment diploma" to those who finish a 12-week program specific to the field. Aside from offering safety and emergency procedure courses that are essential to the career, the college also teaches students about the different aircraft they will be working in. The college also provides courses on interviewing techniques and "professional image enhancement." Students must have finished high school in order to be accepted, and international students must obtain a student visa.

    IBT College

    • IBT College, in Toronto, has three divisions: Business, Travel & Tourism, and Technology. In the Travel & Tourism school, IBT College provides a "registered and approved diploma program" for those seeking a career as a flight attendant. The program is made up of five modules: Introduction to Aviation, Safety Policies and Procedures, Aircraft Specific Information, Emergency Situations and Emergency Equipment, and Job Search Training and Mock Interviews. According to the college, the flight attendant program is "suitable to both domestic as well as international students." All students must pass a Scholastic Entrance Exam before being accepted into the school.

    Eton College Canada

    • Another Vancouver school, Eton College, is officially approved by the Canadian government as a Private Career Training Institutions Agency. The school enables students to earn their flight attendant diploma as part of either the Flight Attendant Preparation program or the more fully rounded Travel, Tourism & Flight Attendant Preparation program. Like the other Canadian flight attendant schools, Eton focuses on job skills, safety procedures and tips for handling interviews. Applicants must have a high school degree and participate in a face-to-face interview before being accepted for admission.
