Flight Paramedic Schools

Paramedics are advanced professionals in emergency medical care at the pre-hospital stage. Most flight services require five years of paramedic experience prior to becoming a flight paramedic; others require two to three years of experience. These schools offer paramedic programs that prepare students to gain the experience needed to become flight paramedics.

    • American River College offers a paramedic program that provides students with an option to pursue a certificate of completion or an Associate in Science degree. The certificate program at this school is designed to be completed in 12 months of study and allows students the opportunity to complete additional classes for the associate's degree. Required courses include an introduction to concepts of human anatomy and physiology, medical dosage calculations, emergency medical response and introduction to advanced pre-hospital care.

    New Hampshire Technical Institute

    • New Hampshire Technical Institute offers a paramedic emergency medicine program that leads to an Associate in Science degree upon completion. The program at this school is known for the longevity and reputation of the program and has been accredited for 15 years by the Commission on Accreditation on Educational Programs of the Emergency Medical Services Professions. Required courses include advanced trauma, paramedic procedures, advanced cardiology and an introduction to the clinical environment.

    St. Petersburg College

    • St. Petersburg College offers a paramedic program that leads to a certificate of completion. Students are prepared for state and national certification examinations to become paramedics upon successful completion of the program. Required courses include general pharmacology for the EMS provider, introduction to paramedic practice and paramedic theory.
