The Executive Flyers Institute has campuses in Bedford and North Andover, Massachusetts. The school offers a discovery course that gives new students an insight into what flight training will entail. This course includes one hour of flight time. For those wishing to gain a private pilot's license, the private pilot certificate course trains you in Cessna aircraft and provides 72 hours of class time. Completing this course will prepare you to take the FAA pilot exam.
The Alfa One Flight Services school is located at the Plymouth Municipal Airport in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Alfa One offers single and multi-engine flight courses and free ground school training. Ground school classes are completed in 14 to 16 weeks, two hours per evening. Flight training is commonly done in a Cessna 152, however Cessna 172s and Pipe Warriors are also available. The pilot course includes 45 hours of flight time, 35 hours of instruction, FAA and medical testing fees plus all books and materials.
Colonial Air is located in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Colonial offers introductory flights for prospective students to get a taste of flight school. The school uses an Elite PI-135 PCADT flight simulator during training; this allows students to train for instrument approaches at their leisure. Because the simulator is FAA approved, students can log a maximum of 10 hours toward their instrument rating. Colonial Air uses a wide range of aircraft for its students; they include, Cessna, Mooney, Piper, Beech and Socata models.
Shoreline Aviation is located in Marshfield, Massachusetts, on the Marshfield Airfield. Shoreline Aviation is an FAA-approved Part 61 school. Courses include private pilot's certificate, student certificates, and multi-engine training. Licensed pilots can gain more training, including instrument and commercial ratings. The school uses Piper Warriors and a Diamond Twin Star DA42 for multi-engine flight training. Shoreline is open seven days a week, year round.
