Scholarships for Being Jewish

Jewish religion and culture emphasizes the importance of education. It can be difficult to maintain this value in modern times, when higher educational costs are beyond many families' budgets. Fortunately, there are several scholarships available for college students of Jewish heritage.
  1. Jewish Vocational Services

    • Jewish Vocational Services (JVS) offers an annual scholarship to college students residing in the Los Angeles area. Qualified students must be full-time students, carrying a minimum load of 12 credits per semester. To qualify, students must be Jewish and reside legally in Los Angeles. Students from foreign countries are welcome to apply if they have the legal right to live and study in the United States. Students must maintain a 2.7 GPA to continue qualifying. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, although the JVS also considers the student's community service and involvement in the Jewish community when making funding decisions. Scholarship amounts vary based on student needs.

As of June 2010, scholarship applications for the 2010-2011 school year are closed. Applications and complete guidelines will be posted online in January 2011, according to the JVS website.
