The National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors and Associations provides scholarship money to cosmetology students quarterly. These scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000. To be eligible, a student must be midway through an esthetician-only training program, must have an attendance record of at least 80 percent, and must have a grade-point average of at least 80 percent. The application deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1. Please do not fax or send applications as registered mail. Great Clips provides scholarship money for students pursuing a career as a cosmetologist through the Alice Madden Barton Cosmetology School Scholarship Program. These scholarships are awarded in varying amounts. Funds obtained through the Alice Madden Barton Cosmetology School Program may be used at any accredited cosmetology school, and may be used to pursue certification in both barbering and cosmetology. To be eligible, a student must submit an essay describing why cosmetology interests her as a career. The annual deadlines for applying are June 30 and December 31. The American Association of Cosmetology Schools offers a variety of scholarships to cosmetology students. The Pat Goins Memorial Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,000 to help cosmetology students pay tuition. Other $1,000 scholarships include the Sport Clips Scholarship and the Farouk Systems USA/AACS Cosmetology Scholarship. Additionally, ten Dream Shears/Trade Essentials Scholarships are awarded to cosmetology students every year in the amount of $500. To be eligible for AACS scholarships, students must be attending an AACS member school. Application deadlines vary by scholarship.
