Grants for Continuing Education for Holistic Nursing Programs

The American Holistic Nurses Association is the primary nationwide supporter of continuing education in the field of holistic nursing. The AHNA supports continuing education for practicing nurses with a variety of grants, including grants for schooling, grants for research, and grants for attending the AHNA annual conference. AHNA grants support nurses who are furthering their education at both the graduate and undergraduate level, and are limited to AHNA members.
  1. The Charlotte McGuire Scholarship Program

    • The AHNA provides scholarship support to practicing nurses who are continuing their education by pursuing a program of study in holistic nursing through the AHNA Charlotte McGuire Scholarship Program. Award amounts vary by situation. To be eligible, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, must be a current member of AHNA, and must have been a member for at least six months if applying for an undergraduate scholarship, or at least one year if applying for a graduate scholarship. The annual deadline for application is March 15. Interested students should visit the AHNA website to download an electronic application.

    AHNA Research Grants

    • The American Holistic Nurses Association also supports practicing nurses who are furthering their education through the AHNA Research Grant Program. AHNA Research Grants support student research in holistic nursing at amounts of up to $3,500. In order to be eligible, a student must be a member of the AHNA, must be pursuing a doctoral degree in holistic nursing, and must be proposing a research project that can be completed within a time frame of one to two years. In order to be considered, an applicant must submit a detailed, 5-8 page research proposal that includes a proposed budget. Prospective applicants should visit the AHNA website for more information.

    AHNA Conference Scholarship

    • The AHNA also offers financial support to practicing nurses who wish to further their education by attending the annual AHNA conference through the AHNA Conference Scholarship Program. In order to be eligible, an applicant must have been an AHNA member for a minimum of six months at the time of application, and must demonstrate financial need by submitting a copy of their tax return from the previous year. An applicant must also submit a letter of recommendation from another AHNA member, and submit a short explanation of how they will benefit from conference attendance.
