The Memorial Scholarships provide aid to the families of deceased police officers. According to the New York State Higher Education Service Corporation, the scholarship helps children of those "who have died as the result of injuries sustained in the line of duty in service to the State of New York." Students must meet certain criteria to take advantage of the financial aid. They have to take courses at an approved college located in New York State, have a high school diploma or GED earned in the United States, maintain a "C" average or higher while studying in school and be enrolled full-time college student. The scholarship covers four to five years of full-time college tuition and room in board depending on your course of study and attending college institution. To become eligible students must contact:

STRIVE scholarships provide financial assistance to the children of active, retired or deceased police officers and other law enforcement personnel. The scholarship is open to children of law enforcement workers in New York State and around the country. To be eligible the applicant must be a graduating high school senior or full-time college student. The STRIVE award will not exceed $2,000 and the amount is determined by the scholarship committee. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers scholarships to help police officers obtain their undergraduate or graduate college degree. The scholarship is offered to those majoring in criminal justice or other related fields. The amount of the scholarship varies. The aid can be used to go towards tuition for an accredited college or university.
