Automotive School Scholarships

A variety of scholarships are available to students who are pursuing a post-secondary degree at an automotive school. Automotive school scholarships come from many sources, including automotive youth programs and professional organizations of automotive engineers and technicians. Some automotive scholarships are limited to students who are in a certain year of schooling.
  1. Automotive Hall of Fame Scholarships

    • The Automotive Hall of Fame makes a variety of scholarships available to students pursuing an automotive degree or certification. The Larry H. Averill Memorial Scholarship is available to an upper-level undergraduate automotive student who has a grade point average of at least 3.0. The M.H. Yager Memorial Scholarship is available to an upper-level undergraduate student with a grade point average of 3.4 or better. The Charles V. Hagler Scholarship is available to an automotive student who has a grade point average of 3.0 or better and who can demonstrate financial need. Automotive Hall of Fame scholarships vary in amount. As of 2010, the annual deadline for application is June 1. Interested students should visit the AHF website for a complete list of available scholarships.

    AYES John F. Smith Scholarship

    • The John F. Smith Scholarship is available to students who have participated in an Automotive Youth Educational Systems at the secondary or post-secondary level. The John F. Smith Scholarship is in the amount of $5,000 over the course of two years to a student pursuing further studies at an accredited automotive school or program. A student must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0 to receive the full scholarship. The annual deadline for application is February 28 as of 2010.

    SAE International Freshman Scholarships

    • The Society of Automotive Engineers offers a variety of scholarships to support automotive school students in their freshman year. As of 2010, the BMW/SAE Engineering Scholarship is in the amount of $1,500 to a freshman automotive engineering student who is a citizen of the United States with a high school grade point average of at least 3.75. It is renewable for an additional three years.

      The TMC/SAE Donald D. Dawson Technical Scholarship is an annual award in the amount of $1,500 to a student who is a U.S. citizen and has a high school grade point average of at least 3.25, as of 2010. This scholarship is also renewable for up to three additional years.
