The first thing that you will need to do in order to obtain a copy of your GED Certificate or GED Transcript is to submit your request in writing to the Florida Department of Education.
Get to your computer and type out or simply write out your request. You will need to include your name, social security number, date of birth, and the year and location of where your GED Exam was taken. The Florida Department of Education cannot mail out a GED Transcript or GED Certificate without proof of identity.
Along with your GED Certificate or GED Transcript request, you will need to include a money order in the amount of $6. This will cover the processing fee - make sure that you send in a money order only as the Florida Department of Education will not accept cash or personal checks.
Next, you will need to include a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE). It is probably best to use a large envelope so that your GED Transcript or GED Certificate does not get bent. A 10 X 13 inch size is best, and you will need to include at least $1 in postage stamps.
Finally, you will need to mail your GED Transcript or GED Certificate request along with the money order, and SASE to the following address (put them all in a bigger envelope):
Florida Department of Education
GED Testing Office
325 West Gaines Street, Room 634
Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0400
Your Florida GED Certificate or GED Transcript should arrive within two weeks.
