How to Obtain GED Transcripts

There is no need to worry if you cannot find your GED transcript: you can still request a copy from the GED testing center where you originally took the test. You need to know where you took the test in order to get a transcript copy, so if you cannot remember exactly where you took the test, you can use a test locator online. For those who received their GED from military, overseas or U.S. Job Corps locations, or from correctional facilities, you can still obtain your transcript in reasonably simple ways.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the testing center where you took the GED test. If you cannot remember exactly where you took the test, you can go to the American Council on Education's (ACE) website. Here you can find a GED testing center locator. Type in your zip code or the zip code of the location where you took the test.

Call your testing center to get more information on your transcript and the location of the testing center: some testing center locations are not the same as they appear in the ACE system. You can use a written form to request a copy of your transcript. You may need to pay a small fee for requesting a transcript copy.

    • 3

Go to your state's GED testing office website to find out state specifics, information not contained on the ACE website or more up-to-date testing center locations.

    • 4

Go to the ACE website. For those who received their GED from military programs, overseas programs, correctional facilities or the U.S Job Corps, the ACE website has specific location information posted. The website also carries a transcript request form for these programs that you can print and mail to the posted addresses for a small fee.
