How to Create a Seasonal Calendar

The seasons are an exciting time for preschoolers because it means more than just a change in the weather. Preschoolers dress differently as the seasons change, the outdoors look different and fun holidays, like Christmas, come around only during particular seasons. Creating a seasonal calendar to use in your classroom will help your students begin to learn the cycle of weather. A seasonal calendar also is a fun way to highlight special occasions within each season.

Instructions

    • 1

Create each calendar month on its own page and print it off.

    • 2

Browse through a wide selection of catalogs or magazines with your students. Cut out pictures that represent a particular season.

    • 3

Encourage your preschoolers to draw pictures of seasonal items. For example, a snowman is a great item to include in one of the winter months, and a swimming pool is a great idea for summer.

    • 4

Glue each picture to the month that best represents that season.

    • 5

Attach the calendar pages together with paper clips so you can keep track of each month and easily change the calendar as the seasons change.
