Draw a grid with 7 rows across and 5 rows down. Use the ruler to keep the lines straight.
Laminate or cover the poster in contact paper.
Attach the one side of a Velcro fastener inside each square for each date, above each column for the days of the week and at the top of the poster for the month. The extra squares on the grid can be used for weather pictures.
Cut out 31 squares of construction paper. Make the squares the same size or slightly smaller than the squares of the grid on the poster board. You may want to cut out a few extra squares for weather pictures.
Number the square 1-31. Make the numbers large enough to fill the squares. These numbers are the days of the month. On the extra squares, draw or paste pictures of clouds, a sun, rain or snow. Laminate the squares, and then attach Velcro fasteners to the back of the numbers.
Cut out seven rectangles of construction paper to fit on top of each column and write the days of the week on them. Laminate the rectangles, and then attach Velcro fasteners to the back of the days.
Cut out 12 rectangles of construction paper and write the months of the year on them. Laminate the rectangles, and then attach Velcro fasteners to the back of the months.
Hang the calendar on the wall where you have morning circle time. Hang so all children can see it.
